Introduction

 Child abuse is my main topic and in my research will cover four different kinds of abuse that can happen at home, school, sex trafficking and other kinds of abuse that can affect a child's life in this world. It is a fact that our innocent children have pure mind and they have no idea what happens in this world. I have a firm belief and it is that children belong to our Heavenly Father and their main purpose is to exist for us to teach them, love them and look after them. However, what happens now in this world is that sometimes there is not enough love, care, or teaching methods for children to walk in the right path. In addition what happens nowadays is that many of them experience a lot of abuse. According to James M. Hmyrovich, adults who want to get involved with children should have training to recognise the grooming behaviour or perpertrators.

 

What is Child Abuse?

Child abuse comes in all forms of physical and/or emotionally mistreatment in life for young children. This can happen from their own parents or anyone else in this world. According to the Eileen Hayes (2004) states, " four main types of child abuse that can identified from different articles". Firstly, neglect, which is lack of attention and due care; secondly, emotional abuse is more than verbal insult; which can really hurt the young child mentally without them knowing or understanding the meaning of words inflicted up them. This can be such remarks from their parents, or family member who may use it. Thirdly, physical abuse refers to fractures or other syndromes which are psychological, social and emotional. Lastly, sexual abuse which identify from sexual knowledge or connect with the inappropriate age, prostitute, sex slavery and abuse within the household.

Causes of Child Abuse or Child Sexual Abuse

I believe that this is a huge issue derived from different countries around the world. Generally each country has it own law against to those who participate in the manipulating of children by abusing them either in physical or sexual abuse. Another issue that can cause this problem is the abuse which can exist within the family because of drugs, alcohol and violence involving parents. This can end it up impacting negatively on young children. Other issues in some countries occur because of low income in the family. This can easily happen when family members force their young children to endure hard labour for money to provide food for the whole family. Organisations that strive for the protection of young children or victims traded for money to other places or countries identified the main cause of this kind of child abuse. 

 Child Sexual Abuse: A Mental Health Issue

Child sexual Abuse is one of the most pervasive social health issues people around the world are face with. It is identified as a profound problem, affecting the life of young children and adults who fall victim to this kind of crime. Historically, however, the sexual abuse of children identified as a family problem. From past years, children who have been sexually abused in the past pointed out that the main cause of this problem began from mental health. Not only is this a criminal justice problem but also a serious mental health problem. According to Eileen Hayes (2004), many of us will experience some mental health issue at some stage in our lives. There is practical advice and support to assist with coping through challenges presented. Without this, problems can build to the point where they may potentially put lives in danger and children are always in high risk of being affected by their surroundings. Children are affected by sexual abuse across many countries in the world, however, I was unsure of whether abuse in the home stretched out to Pacific Island communities. But according to further research, Pacific Island children are in high risk of sexual abuse which is an issue that can be identified by family members who trade their children for money to tourists and/or other foreigner workers.

 

Punishment for Predators

Barbara Goldberg highlights that a former basketball coach pleaded guilty to the unlawful act of child molestation. No punishment is enough for these kinds of people who manipulate the minds of young children for such unforgivable acts of the sexual kind? It is a fact that the world has contained this issue for a long time but there will always be attempts to find ways of protecting children from abuse in different aspects. However, the problem is that the abuse derives from the victim's household or their own family members. 

Punishments in countries for sexual predators can differ greatly with the length of sentencing time but I firmly believe that a minimum of 12 years spent in prison is not enough for the actions they have bestowed upon victims. I believe these people should be imprisoned for life without parole. This is because if these criminals are given a chance to be released from prison, they will continuously manipulate the minds of young children life. I think the huge problem here is not just only happened in families but also in school. So, how can we protect our children from this problem? We all know that our children's life should be safe in school, family or anywhere else in this world.

Organisation Who Helps Children from Abuse

This organisation is well known globally for helping and protecting our children. According to this article, "UNICEF aims to help and protect children in Bangladesh from child sexual abuse in family, workplace, school and also in the community". This identifies the main facts of what happens in the world and the effects on young children from different kinds of abuse. This can occur as a result of not enough protection from family members and the community. I truly believe that the government should work together with these organisations such as UNICEF and Save Children Organisation to support and protect children from abuse in every aspect. UNICEF is the well know organisation that the majority of people help, in the attempt for some form of effective change in the world for the life of children. I believe that with sufficient support from this organisation, children everywhere will be able to lead happy lives. They will have the opportunity to be liberated from abuse within the family, school, sex trafficking and all other factors that can have an impact the lives of children.
